I solve problems through math software
I am currently a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences located in Leipzig, Germany. My current boss is Bernd Sturmfels.
My research interests are tropical geometry and algebraic geometry with special focus on constructive aspects. While I do believe in the axiom of choice, I prefer explicit computations and effective algorithms. On a similar note, my first instinct when encountering a variety - whether algebraic or tropical - is to find coordinates on it.
I am one of the core developers of the computer algebra software Singular.
